3. University policies and procedures

Organisations including the Association of Research Managers and Administrators (ARMA) and Research  Libraries UK,  have organised meetings at which representatives of universities have shared experiences on the development of policies and procedures in their own institutions.

RCUK has commissioned the RIN to gather evidence of policy and practice across the HE sector, and to develop guidelines and protocols on good practice covering issues such as the payment of APCs where work has been undertaken collaboratively across several institutions. This work will also involve working with a range of institutions to define minimum levels of reporting to RCUK, and the mechanisms needed to gather the necessary data. In parallel, the Open Access Implementation Group is planning a workshop on 27 June 2013 to share good practice on Gold open access.

In the meantime, the RIN is working with Cambridge University to support its work in developing new policies, procedures and systems in response to the new policies from RCUK and others.
